Penn State Mascot Animation

Colortech’s design team was excited to be presented an opportunity to try its hand at mascot creation and animation. Penn State College of Medicine worked with us before to create a logo for their Joining Forces, Empowering Voices program, which you can read more about the process for here. This time, they wanted a character to help brand their website and videos. With the new videos they wanted to make, they wanted to have a 2-3 second animation of the character for the start of each one.

After creating the character of the tablet with a fun cartoonified face, arms, and legs, we went to work on the animations. They included him peeking out from behind a large screen, swinging in from above, and waving to the audience. While we had never done something like this before, it was a fun process. We learned more about how to work with keyframes and other animation tools in Adobe After Effects.
