USPS Raising Postage Rates for 2024

USPS Raising Postage Rates for 2024

On November 15, 2023, the USPS announced its intent to once again raise prices on shipping services. Postage rates for 2024 continue to rise to “achieve the financial stability sought by its Delivering for America 10-year plan,” as stated by the USPS. The governmental agency wants to ensure that it continues to be competitive with other packaging services while still providing itself with the necessary revenue. It is still amongst the cheapest outlets in the world for sending mail.

Changes will go into effect on January 21, 2024. The price change most affecting the average consumer will be the “Forever” stamps. These are once again raising in price from 66 to 68 cents for letters weighing one ounce or less. Remember that when you purchase these stamps, they can always be used to mail letters. It does not matter what the current postage rate is or when you bought them.

While we cannot control the pricing of mailings, here are some variables you can consider:

  1. Make sure your mailing list is up to date and designed to allow for maximum address updates and duplication elimination.
  2. Consider targeted mailings to customers who purchase most or have taken a liking to your products or seasonal promotions.
  3. Look at your mail piece size, design, and paper type. Some mailing sizes cost more than others, and maximizing your resources and costs can help in the long run. Hint: we can help with this!
  4. Look into Every Door Direct Mailers to maximize your reach and minimize postage costs.
